(More customer reviews)This is particle board with a kind of cheap "painted wood" (I wouldn't call it "laminate", that implies at least some protection - this has none). The painted on wood chips at the slightest contact, if it's not chipped everywhere by the time you get it put together it will be within a couple weeks of use (e.g. take some shoes in and out of the drawers). If you're unlucky enough like me to decide to live with a few chips and throw away the packaging and then a week later realize there are even more chips accumulating and you should return it, you're out of luck because without the packaging it's impossible to return. I wish I would have bit the bullet and bought a real wood bed in the first place, now I've wasted $500 + the cost of dumping it. Prepac should be ashamed to sell this junk and Amazon should stop carrying it.
