(More customer reviews)I got this for my mother who has rather large cats.The other ones I looked at on Amazon and in the pet stores used Velcro tape to attach the perch to the windowsill.I just don't think that's going to be good enough when a big cat keeps jumping up on this thing.The Velcro may hold, but the glue on the tape won't after awhile.And then you'd have to screw it to the sill to make it permanent.I wanted one that fit in the window frame, like this one.Just be aware that if you have replacement windows (the kind where they leave your frame intact and put a new window inside of that) with a ridge that sticks up above the wooden sill, this won't work when the window's closed.My mom has both kinds of windows, and she quickly discovered this.It will work when it's open, though.She likes it because she can move it around to different windows through the year, depending on where the sun is.And it is plenty long and sturdy enough for her big boys.She's very happy with the quality, and her cats love it.

Works on most windows -- This window perches does attach to the wall. There are 2 clips at the back of the perch that go into the track of the window, and a sliding wood/carpeted support underneath the moves toward the wall to lock the perch in place thru opposing pressure.
